Hello

As you must know by now, my name is David. I am the only driving instructor working for myself. If you are looking for a driving school with multiple instructors*, then you are in the wrong place!! If you book with me, you get me. I won't send another instructor, or trainee instructor, without notice to take a lesson you have booked.

I cannot turn into a female either, so if you want a lady instructor*, again you're in the wrong place.

QUALIFICATIONS

I passed my own driving test in 1972 after 5 lessons. In 1975 a passed and became a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists. I became a driving instructor in 1993, starting as a trainee with a local instructor. I passed the final Part 3 ADI exam in November 1993. I have been working successfully since then. I was one of the first instructors to offer the formal PASSPLUS course, though I have always given pupils motorway lessons when requested by any pupils who passed the  L test.

In 1996 I successfully passed the National Police Drivers course.

Then in 1999 I passed exams and obtained the Diploma In Driving Instruction, gaining the highest marks in the country, marks which have yet to be beaten.

HOWEVER

I do not believe passing exams makes a good instructor. Nor do the grades instructors are given once every 2 or 4 years mean anything worthwhile. Every Instructor has to submit to a regular "Check Test". The senior examiner sits in on a pre-arranged lesson. During this check test lesson the instructor must demonstrate that he/she can conduct a lesson to prescribed standards laid out by the DSA. These "standards" are prescribed by someone who has not necessarily been an actual driving instructor. So whatever grade is given on the check test does not reflect accurately the day to day performance of any instructor, because a good instructor will vary how they teach each pupil, to accommodate each pupil's personality.

So I will not state here what my grade is.

What makes me a good instructor is the fact that I am very patient, and more importantly, I can explain how and what to do in very simple terms. Thus my pupils are relaxed and make swift progress from learner to novice driver.

I take pride in the fact that I have never had a pupil fail to reach the standard required by the DSA to pass the test.

*If you do want a large school, then I recommend the AA. At least all their instructors are fully qualified, unlike the majority of other "National" schools.

If you want a lady, then I recommend you give either Pam (01484 851299), or Karen (01484 650525)  a ring.

Yes..they are both my friends, but I recommend them because they are good.
